Political agreement on first of three CFP reform files

The European Parliament and Council today concluded negotiations on the first of the legislative files in the fisheries reform: the Common Market Organisation (CMO).

The negotiators from the two institutions today finalised a political agreement on the CMO regulation. Some technical details still remain to be sorted out before the text can be formally approved by the Council and the European Parliament.

The CMO regulation deals with issues such as the establishment and objectives of fishery producer organisations, and labelling on fish products sold to consumers.
