NatureNews: Pacific tuna population may crash at any time
Researchers are warning that Pacific bluefin tuna (Thunnus orientalis) could decline as dramatically as its Atlantic cousin, despite the official reports claiming it is stable. They argue these reports are based on the false assumption that fishing practices have not changed, but over the past few years boats have been fishing in the tuna’s spawning grounds, harming the stocks breeding capacity.
