On 17 May an extraordinary Fisheries Committee meeting with Commissioner Damanaki took place at the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The meeting debated the controversial issue of Individual Transferable Quotas (ITQs), in the new CFP.

The NGO Coalition Ocean2012 circulated a letter to members of the Fisheries Committee outlining the reasons for their opposition to a European market in ITQs.
