The NGO Oceana has published a case study highlighting that despite well known illegal activities linked to the Spanish vessel operator Vidal Armadores, Vidal companies have received almost ten million euros of fishing subsidies from the local government of Galicia, the Spanish fisheries ministry and the European Union since 1997, including financing for at least three new fishing vessels.
